Obesity Prevention

The team is currently in the process of working with two of our region's rural communities to address the obesity epidemic through multi-pronged systems and environmental changes designed to improve physical activity and better nutrition.

Mental Health

Working on the spectrum from prevention to treatment, the Foundation is currently focused on designing and promoting strategies to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) as well as build resiliency among youth and adults who have experienced multiple ACEs throughout the course of their childhood. In addition, the team is working with local health providers to better integrate the behavioral health and primary care delivery systems, and bridge gaps between the various other agencies that serve overlapping populations.

3.  Capacity Building Grants

If you are part of a network or collaboration of cross-sector stakeholders, and your network would like to partner with EHF on pursuing change or national funding opportunities, please contact us!  This is the most flexible of all the grant programs and we are continuously seed funding many stakeholders/partners in parallel.  Please see the Capacity Grant pages for additional information.

Empire Health Foundation is a new health conversion private foundation, with approximately $160 million in assets under management and stewardship of which $50 million is set aside for philanthropy, working to improve the health of communities in eastern Washington. Because it is the largest private health foundation in the region, it has given the organization a unique opportunity to build a philanthropic organization from the ground up, design and implement a strategic vision for impact, and establish the Foundation as a catalyst and convener in the region.
